Our story
Started at a receiving dock, not a boardroom
VP Scientific was founded in 2014 by Judith A. Trudeau after more than a decade coordinating purchasing for testing laboratories in the mid-Atlantic. The recurring frustration was never price — it was substitutions nobody flagged, documentation that arrived three weeks after the goods, and quotes that ignored half the requisition.
The business began with a single product line, borosilicate glassware, sold to four laboratories within driving distance of Dover. Word travelled through purchasing departments faster than any advertisement. By 2018 the catalog covered consumables and liquid handling; by 2021 we were shipping to laboratories in every state.
We are still deliberately small. Every account is handled by a named specialist, every quote is reviewed by a person before it is sent, and the owner still reads the exception report each morning.

How we work
Small team, short chain of command
Orders are handled by three functions: an account specialist who owns the customer relationship, a fulfillment lead who controls stock and outbound documentation, and the owner, who signs off on credit terms, supplier onboarding and any quality exception.
That structure means an escalation reaches a decision-maker the same day. It also means we say no to work we cannot service properly — we do not sell controlled substances, radiological materials, or clinical diagnostics intended for patient use.
